Welcome in Hluboká nad Vltavou, in the town famed mainly thanks to its Neo gothic chateau placed in a large English park. Hluboká with its nearly 5 thousand habitants has a great location – it lies approximately 10 km from České Budějovice, on both banks of the Vltava River.
The town itself , which celebrates 100 year anniversary of the historical promotion among towns this year, is enclosed with the picturesque South bohemian countryside with tens of ponds ( Bezdrev) and rich forests with hunting castles (castle Obora) and farms (Vondrov), where is the romantic atmosphere underlined with horse riders or melancholic fishermen. Chateau Hluboká nad Vltavou visit
The chateau belongs among the most romantic castles in the Czech Republic and de jure among the most visited. It was founded by Přemysl Otakar II. to protect the border forests. From the 13th century it underwent numerous reconstructions and its present - day appearance comes from the 19th century, when it was rebuilt in the Neo-gothic style as an imitation of English Windsor Castle.

Its interiors count 140 rich furnished rooms and 11 towers and visitors can choose and visit from the wide offer of guided tours, leading through the most interesting parts of the castle: the main sightseeing tour, private apartments, the kitchen and the castle tower. Recently, the chateau became a popular place for weddings or fests.
Aleš South Bohemian Gallery (Alšova jihočeská galerie)
Aleš South bohemian Gallery belongs among the most important institutions of fine art in the Czech Republic. In particular, it treasures collection of the gothic art of a priceless and historical value but also exposes underlying modern pieces and a collection of 16th -19th century art with an important presentation of Dutch painting.
Ohrada Castle
Ohrada castle was built in Hluboká woods, not far from the chateau, as a hunting castle of Prince Schwarzenberg. Its purpose was to host hunting fests and celebrations. Nowadays, there is an exposition of the hunting museum (founded in 1842 – one of the oldest museums in Bohemia), containing wide collections of hunting trophies and animals. Ohrada lies in the ZOO neighbourhood.
ZOO Ohrada
Zoo is the ideal place to enjoy a family leisure time together. The founder of the ZOO was Adolf Schwarzenberg and today we can admire over 200 species of animals, (some of them on the list of endangered species e.g. otter) living mainly in Europe and in the temperate zone of Asia. Hluboká zoo also offers a unique programme for children – they can safely visit some of the animals in their enclosure, such as goats or guinea – pigs.
