Marathon as a separate discipline

First races in marathon were held in Denmark, Great Britain, Spain and Germany in half of 1930th. The length of cruise was from classical cruises (42,195 km) till long-distance races in length 240 km.

1975 - Danish and British Canoe Federations iniciated intention of foundation of the International Canoe               Federation (ICF)

1978 - Marathon Grand Prix Series was set ( 3 – 4 races per a year in categories: K1 men, K2 men)     
            present categories: K1, K2 – men, women, juniors/men and women
                                         C1, C2 – men, juniors/men

         - marathon was involved under ICF as a separate discipline

Types of cruise

- open river
- open river with portages
- open lakes, dams, sea
- combination of all above types

Tyn’s cruise responds to the second type with two portages per 1 round. Total length is 36 km for men and women (3 rounds), 24 km for juniors and veterans (2 rounds).
